【News】 G20 Agriculture Ministers commit at Xi’an China to raise agricultural productivity and enhance active involvement of women and young people in food production (June 4, 2016)

The Agriculture Ministers of the Group of Twenty (G20), 19 developed and emerging countries plus the European Union, met in Xi’an, China, on June 3.

At the G20 Agriculture Ministers Meeting, they adopted the Communiqué to pursue the establishment of food security through technological innovation by applying Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and the like to raise agricultural productivity.

Japan was represented by Hiroshi Moriyama, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries at the Meeting. He has joined the talks so that the G20 Ministers could share the fruits of the Group of Seven (G7) Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting chaired by himself at Niigata, Japan on April 23-24.

The G20 Agriculture Ministers also pledged in the Communiqué to enhance integration of women and young people into agricultural production and activate rural communities by improving farmers’ income.
