  Representatives of the Japanese farming industry told their American counterparts in Washington on Tuesday, October 15, that they believe the Japanese government will protect key agricultural products from tariff elimination, while the farmers’ groups in the United States called for tariff cuts without exception under the Trans-Pacific Partnership free-trade talks.   The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries held a case study meeting on Tuesday, October 15, to report on specific examples of coordination between health care and agriculture, with the aim of developing the agricultural sector as a potential industry. It is the first time for the ministry to hold such a meeting in line with the government’s growth strategy of bolstering innovation and increasing value in agriculture through sector-to-sector cooperation.   We haven’t seen such delightful news for quite a while. An authoritative survey by an international organization evaluated Japanese adults, especially middle-aged men and women, as the world’s most skilled people. Not only were Japanese adults ranked top in terms of scores, but the gap between those who scored well and those who did not was small, which means that Japanese people are very well skilled in general.
