【News】 International visitors to be welcome with Japanese food culture at Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games (June 1, 2016)

The Government of Japan held a meeting of the liaison officials of relevant ministries and agencies on May 31 for enhancing dissemination of information on Japanese food culture toward the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The network of these officials plans to study measures to be taken for this purpose, including a program for serving the Olympic athletes with food ingredients of locally grown farm products at the Olympic village. A number of international tourists are expected to come to Japan during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Shinshu Ueda Agricultural Cooperative (JA) in Nagano prefecture, Nagano-ken Rengoseika, one of the biggest grocery wholesalers in the prefecture, and EVERY HOMEY HOLDINGS Co., Ltd., headquartered at Fukuyama-shi, Hiroshima prefecture operating supermarkets and restaurants, jointly set up a task force to create a new distribution system of farm products. 【News】 Agriculture and welfare work together for direct selling of products made by disabled people (May 31, 2016)

Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare organized a direct selling of farm products and other goods produced by disabled people at their work facilities in a “Marche of Agriculture-Welfare Collaboration” opened at the plaza of JR Yurakucho Station in Tokyo on May 29-30. The significance of collaboration between agriculture and welfare was demonstrated through the direct selling of those products at the Marche. 18 organizations and corporations respectively set up direct sales stands at the plaza to sell fresh farm products and processed foods.
