SHIZUOKA, Feb. 26 – A local agricultural cooperative in Shizuoka Prefecture (JA Nansun) sold a set of petit vert and an original postcard in collaboration with a TV anime “Love Live! Sunshine !!” whose story is set in Numazu City. The exclusive version of boxed petit vert was available on an online shopping site, “JA Town,” for four days from February 24. That was the first shot of the initiative to support local farmers having difficulty selling products due to the Covid-19 pandemic and started with the cooperation of Sunrise Inc., a Japanese animation studio. Some other plans are to follow to support the sale of other agricultural products, as well.

The original postcard with three cute “Love Live!” characters (each holding petit vert dishes) has two petit vert dish recipes on the back.

On February 24, the official Twitter account of “Love Live!” unveiled the plan. The tweet was retweeted by more than 1,800 Twitter users and received more than 5,300 likes. Then, the anime fans rushed to make orders, and the JA received more than 300 orders on the first day only.

A JA official said, “we hope this project will help us promote petit vert to younger generations and make anime fans love agricultural products grown in our region, too.”

The limited-time-only petit vert box included three bags of 100-gram petit vert and one original postcard. Only 500 packages were available for 1,000 yen each.
