SAGA, Jan. 26 – Saga Product Promotion Public Corporation of Saga Prefecture has started to run a campaign to promote Saga’s relatively new strawberry brand “Ichigosan” to Hong Kong consumers in collaboration with a local flower shop and pastry shops. The prefectural body for promoting agricultural and livestock products produced in Saga works with the partners in Hong Kong to sell strawberry bouquets and limited-time-only strawberry desserts.

Ichigosan, a strawberry brand of Saga, debuted in 2018. Hong Kong started to import it in 2019, especially for local Japanese food retailers to become the primary overseas market for Ichigosan. However, it still is a brand little-known to the local shoppers, according to the public company.

One of the partners, Fruit teens, is a popular local florist that focuses on e-commerce. For the campaign, it sells three kinds of Ichigosan strawberry bouquets. The one named Elegant Ichigosan comes with 30 fresh red strawberries, some roses, and white baby’s breath and is sold for 1,280 Hong Kong dollars (17,280 yen). The bouquets are available from January 30 to February 10.

A local confectionery started to sell Ichigosan strawberry desserts such as strawberry mille-feuille on February 3. The limited offer will continue for two weeks, while more local restaurants are planning to join and start offering strawberry drinks and desserts.
