How about a glass of tofu cocktail at a beer garden? An open-air rooftop beer garden of Matsuya Ginza department store in Tokyo’s Chuo Ward is offering a variety of tofu recipes, including curry, cocktails and sweets.

Sagamiya Foods Co., a tofu maker of Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture, supplied the ingredients in the hope that more young people will be attracted to tofu and contribute to increasing consumption of the food.

Matsuya Ginza, which holds the event titled “the beer garden that makes you beautiful,” said they focused on healthy food to get support of women who are highly health-conscious.

Its specialty is a 5,500-yen all-tofu dinner (plus free drinks) including such dishes as green curry with tofu and ethnic-flavored tofu steak. Tofu shaved ice dessert and tofu cocktails are also available a la carte.

Such recipes are created using products developed by Sagamiya Foods, such as a stretchy and creamy tofu and a drinkable tofu.

The beer garden will be open through Oct. 9.
