【News】 MAFF taking leadership in promoting flow of human resources from private sector into agriculture through talent matching system (Oct. 25, 2016)

Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) set up “Council for Promotion of Talent Matching in Agricultural Sector and Economic Circles” on October 24.

The Council, main members of which are JA-ZENCHU, an apex body of agricultural cooperative (JA) organizations in Japan, Japan Agricultural Corporations Association (JACA), and Japan Business Federation (KEIDANREN), is expected to play a vital role in recruiting human resources from private enterprises into a farm sector of agricultural corporations, JAs, and other related organizations.

MAFF hopes that the agricultural sector will be active in recruiting talents from the private sector to make use of their technical knowledge on management and marketing as well as their personal relationships for the purpose of enhancing farm management in the sector.

With this job matching system, MAFF aims at assisting the agricultural sector to develop itself into a growth-oriented industry by increasing its exports and other business activities.

The Council established under MAFF’s leadership plans to begin a business of introducing job candidates for the agricultural sector in the next fiscal year.

The Council is made up of six members; JA-ZENCHU, JACA, KEIDANREN, National Chamber of Agriculture, Japan Association of Corporate Executives, and Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Under the Council, staff agencies will launch a framework not only of receiving registration of job candidates working for corporations such as food companies, distributors, food service chains, and information technology enterprises, but also of helping those job seekers find employment in agricultural corporations, JAs, and other farm organizations.

The Council will further consider how a data bank system of the staff agencies should provide to member organizations with information on management conditions of talent seekers in the agricultural sector as well as on human resources required by them.
