Members of Female Farmer Project celebrated its third anniversary at a gathering held on Feb. 27 at Tokyo to exchange views on achievements of their activities during past three years.
The Project, a nationwide network of young female farmers, has now increased their members up to 400 females by ten times since it was organized under the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 2013. It has also 25 support members of agricultural companies.
The members participated in the Tokyo gathering, sponsored by NHK Educational Corporation, to share reports on their activities including collaborations with the support members of farm-related companies.
These companies have accepted some of proposals made by the female members of the Project to manufacture user-friendly products such as farm machines and necessary goods especially for female farmers. For instance, special rubber farm globes have been produced for young female farmers who like nail enhancements.
“I am very happy that our proposals have turned to be new products.” “I have a number of fellow farmers in this group. So I can go forward with hope for tomorrow’s agriculture.” Positive comments were made one after another by participants in the meeting.
