TOKYO, Mar. 14 – The Nippon Yell Project Association of the National Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Associations (ZEN-NOH) and leading food and beverage makers has announced that it will simultaneously roll out the third set of Nippon Yell-brand products, this time featuring ingredients from six prefectures in the Tohoku region of Japan. Twelve manufacturers have developed 18 products, from beverages to confectioneries and bread, and will roll out the products on March 18 to support agricultural producers in the northeastern region of Japan. The association was established in 2023. It chooses specific agricultural products or regions and invites manufacturers in different categories to develop unique products simultaneously. It chose “hyuganatsu” citrus from Miyazaki Prefecture for the first roll-out and “three brothers of apples” from Nagano Prefecture for the second. The third series was joined by Ito En (a Japanese tea leaves and tea product maker), Fujiya (confectionery), Pickles Corporation, and Yamazaki Baking (a bread and sweet bun producer), as well as local manufacturers such as Edel Wein and Yamagata Food. A total of 12 manufacturers will sell 18 products, the most significant number ever.
Ito En’s Matcha-Iri Tsuyahime Genmaicha (Genmaicha green tea with Matcha powder and Tsuyahime rice pops) uses Tsuyahime-brand rice from Yamagata Prefecture. Its bottle comes with a cap filled with matcha tea powder, and when you twist the cap, the powder will be fed into the bottle to make fresh green tea. Yamazaki Baking has developed bread rolls made with Hokugen no Momo (peaches produced at the northern production limit in Japan) from Akita Prefecture. The pleasantly sticky textured bread also uses rice flour from Iwate Prefecture, as well. Edel Wein produces red wine made of grapes cultivated in Iwate Prefecture, and Yamagata Food sells ciders featuring watermelon juice from Yamagata Prefecture. |
