Yogurt-dedicated store opens at Haneda Airport

TOKYO, Mar. 25 – A store dedicated to the sale of local yogurts has opened at the Haneda Airport in Ota Ward, Tokyo, and is gathering attention. It sells around 20 kinds of hard-to-find-at-supermarkets yogurt, and consumers can enjoy different products made from different raw milk in different packages. By introducing yogurt unique to each region, the store can highlight the value of dairy farming, which has a root in each region, and the attraction of milk itself.

Yognet, an association of small-to-mid-sized dairy product and yogurt manufacturers, sells the products wholesale to the store that opened in December last year in the area called Haneda Sanchoku-Kan (meaning a shop directly from producers in Japanese) at the No.1 Terminal of the Haneda Airport.

Each item has a unique point-of-purchasing (POP) sign to make the store experience even more enjoyable. The best-selling items are yogurt drinks, which are popular among customers of all ages who are traveling or on the go. The lineup will be changed randomly so customers can find something new each time they shop.

Yognet’s representative, Chika Mukai, said part of the beauty of local yogurt is that its flavor reflects the thoughts and the history of each producer. “Each has a story to tell. I want this store to be a place where people feel close to local dairy farming,” she continued.
