TOKYO, Nov. 10 – Noh no Ikebana arrangements that use rice stalks and toumi (a traditional winnowing machine) were displayed at French Embassy in Japan. The Japan Agricultural News held an exhibition and an open class of Noh no Ikebana at the embassy in Minato ward, Tokyo, as one of the events to commemorate its 90th anniversary. A group of 20 members of the Noh no Ikebana Club in Tokyo exhibited their arrangements. One of the visitors to the exhibition said, “This is so impressive! I’m so much moved by the great harmony between the mind of Japan and its agricultural culture.”

The open class was joined by ten embassy staffs, who enjoyed their own arrangements, selecting materials from approximately 70 kinds of agricultural products including Chinese lemon and pumpkins, and tools and containers from about 30 traditional agricultural equipment. One of the club members, Sachiko Aoki, 61, said happily, “I feel honored to be able to show French people the beauty of the Japanese agriculture.”
