The Japanese Government has initiated “an infrastructure development program for exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products,” which clarifies a policy direction of infrastructural improvement to be required for boosting exports of those commodities.
The governmental program includes new measures to promote improvement of auto vacuum sealer machines since an export of vacuum packed rice (cooked) is expected to be promising in overseas markets.
A part of the governmental program for accelerating improvement of the export infrastructure is the development of rice vacuum packing machines, aiming to achieve a national target of raising the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery product exports up to one trillion yen in 2019, while exports of these products are not growing as much as expected.
Auto vacuum sealers will be increasingly equipped at food processing plants in order to increase exports of vacuum packed rice which can keep its high quality for a long period.
With a view to boosting sales of vegetables, fruits, flowers and green tea in overseas markets, constructions of facilities equipped with low-temperature storehouses and controlled atmosphere (CA) storages are to be promoted so that export periods of these commodities can be extended.
Implementation of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) will be further encouraged in beef and pork packing plants so as to make it possible for the plants to export meats to the United States and member countries of the European Union, both of which require higher standards of sanitary.
