Exports of apples, green tea and beef produced in Japan are continuously increasing this year. They are likely to respectively break the past record by the end of the year.
According to the latest trade statistics published by the Ministry of Finance, all the values of these exports in a period from January to September 2016 have exceeded those in the same period of the previous year.
There had been concerns that recent yen appreciation would put a sudden break on export growth. Strong exports of these commodities, however, have been supported by spreading Japanese-food boom in many countries and increasing inbound tourists.
An export value of apples grew to 6596.28 million yen during a January-September period in 2016, 11 percent up over the same period of 2015. During these nine months, the volume of apples’ export increased to 16.476 thousand tons, 7 percent up.
Exports of green tea surged to 8408.81 million yen, 19 percent up in value, and grew to 3.04 thousand tons, 7 percent up in volume.
Beef exports increased to 8.3 billion yen, 15 percent up in value, and grew to 1.191 thousand tons, 11 percent up in volume.
Strong exports of these products have been continuing in October. Respective export values of the three commodities are surely expected to exceed 10 billion yen in 2016.
