Norinchukin Bank (Central Cooperative Bank for Agriculture and Forestry) made an announcement on August 17 that JA Bank, a nation-wide network of banking business of agricultural cooperatives (JAs) headed by the Norinchukin Bank, has launched a project of “Mobile JA” this August.
The nation-wide project will be contineously carried out specially through mobile banking service as well as supply business of consumer goods in underpopulated areas and other rural communities. The mobile supply service also plans to handle various goods necessary for farm works.
Some JAs have aready started mobile banking service by themselves. And the Norinchukin Bank has decided to take the leadership in expanding the mobile service functions to be played by JAs for improving the influstracture for living in rural societies throughout the country.
JA Bank’s new project aims particularly to provide residents in the rural areas with financial services, which are indispensable for their living, by running automobiles of “Mobile JA” around the rural areas where the residents have poor access to JA’s banking office or its ATM (automatic teller machine) facilities.
Under this project, “Mobile JA” will be able to run into a neighboring prefecture,when a natural disaster takes place, in order to provide its financial services to the prople in earthquake or flood-striken areas.
More than 100 Mobile JA atomobiles will be run by JAs and prefectural credit business federations of agricultural cooperatives (JAs) in the country by the fiscal year 2018.
