The grating is a framework of crossed metal bars mainly used for covering gutters and drains. Once wild boars pass on the grating, they will keep away from the metal framework so as to avoid having their hooves caught in spaces of grating’s bars.

A number of farmers in mountainous areas install fences around their community and farmlands to prevent wild animals from damaging agricultural products. However, these fences cannot be put around the access of a road for people and automobiles. The gratings are expected to effectively work if they are installed at such places.

The grating has been reportedly also effective to prevent deer from entering farmlands. Farmers and local people concerned will grow their interests in grating installment as a measure to reduce damages caused by wild animals in agriculture.
