HOKKAIDO, Oct. 26 – The 16th All Japan Holstein Grand Prix was held on October 25 in Abira Town, Hokkaido, to recognize excellent dairy cow producers across the country who succeeded in improving dairy cows. It marked a comeback after a decade of absence, as the last one five years ago was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2025 championship welcomed, from 38 prefectures, a record-high 380 dairy cows. The Champions, the highest award winners, were selected on October 26.
The event is organized by the Holstein Cattle Association of Japan (HCAJ). HCAJ Chairman Tsutomu Maeda expressed his hope at the opening ceremony to strengthen ties among dairy farming professionals and support the dreams of successors.
On the first day, comparative judging was conducted in 13 categories for Holstein heifers and two- to three-year-old delivered cows. Then, the top-winning cows in two categories, the 1st to 6th and the 7th to 13th, were reevaluated to determine the winner of the Honorary Award in each division. On the 26th, judging took place for Holsteins aged four and over and Jersey cows.
Twenty-four individuals and organizations with five or more previous participations were given the Multiple Exhibitor awards. Three farms were named for participating the most, the 11 times, and they were Fukuya Farm from Eniwa City, Hokkaido; Koiwai Farm from Shizukuishi Town, Iwate Prefecture; and Whis Farm Agricultural Cooperative Corporation from Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture.
