Japanese fruit and vegetables promoted in Hong Kong

HONG KONG, Dec. 8 — ZEN-NOH International Hong Kong Ltd., a subsidiary of the National Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Associations (JA ZEN-NOH) group, will fully open a permanent sales counter on Dec. 9 inside a shop in Hong Kong to sell Japan-made fruit and vegetables as part of efforts to boost Japan’s exports of fresh produce.

The permanent sales counter, the first of its kind to open at overseas stores, will be installed inside the Fusion Tai Wo store of PARKnSHOP, Hong Kong’s leading supermarket chain.

A sales associate trained for two weeks about the quality, safety and taste of Japanese fruit and vegetables will be regularly stationed at the counter to promote products in season.

Around 10 items in season will be sold regularly at the counter to appeal to health-conscious consumers or those seeking high-quality products.

Products such as strawberries, mandarin oranges, Chinese cabbages and daikon radishes will be sold at the grand opening.

In order to expand exports of fresh produce to Hong Kong, the JA ZEN-NOH group will strengthen production and sales structure in cooperation with fruit and vegetable growing regions.

In fiscal 2024, the group will work to increase the handling volume of fruit and vegetables particularly in the prefectures of Yamagata, Yamanashi, Okayama, Tottori and Oita with an aim to reduce distribution costs.

ZEN-NOH International Hong Kong said it hopes to bolster efforts to connect Japan’s fresh produce growing regions and consumers in Hong Kong.
