TOKYO, Oct. 11 – On October 10, 2024, Gurunavi Inc. chose “Nouvelle Sukiyaki” as this year’s trend-setting nabe hot pot dish. Nouvelle sukiyaki is still traditional but has unique ingredients and sauces that meet the needs of diversified consumers and may boost Wagyu consumption.
It is the 16th time for the giant restaurant search engine site operator to name the nabe of the year based on the data on trends in the restaurant industry over the recent year. Sukiyaki will become a popular choice while imported ingredients are becoming more expensive, and the yen’s depreciation is boosting the demand for costly ingredients made in Japan. There is an expected demand from inbound tourists, too. Gurunavi held a press conference for the announcement in Tokyo on October 17 to present some ideas for the new sukiyaki. One of them is “Sukiyaki with Kuroge-brand wagyu cocked in smoked-soy-sauce-based sukiyaki sauce and served with raw egg and yogurt.” It features a unique combination of Kuroge beef chuck flap and a special cooking sauce that uses smoked soy sauce. It encourages you to dip cooked beef and vegetables into beaten egg and yogurt to complete the new sukiyaki experience. A Gurunavi spokesperson said, “We hope that restaurants will look at these new ideas and create their new menus, boost hot pot dish consumption, and contribute to expanding Wagyu beef consumption.” |
