Japan looks to expand online sales of cooked rice in China

TOKYO, Oct. 30 — A marketer of Japanese-grown rice is to expand online sales of cooked rice packs to China, aiming to capitalize on Chinese consumer spending power in its fast-growing e-commerce market. ZEN-NOH Pearl Rice Corp., the marketing arm specializing Japanese-grown rice of the country’s largest agricultural cooperative, has begun selling cooked rice packs at Wandou. An online shopping platform for Chinese consumers, Wandou is operated by online seller and trader Inagora, based in Tokyo. Inagora was set up in 2014 jointly by Weng Yongbiao and Minako Yamamoto. Gachapon selling capsuled mandarin oranges, apples and umeboshi pickled plums attracting consumers in Japan

Farmers in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture, ship world’s first GM silkworm cocoons

On November 13, the cocoons will be sent to Miyasaka Silk Reeling Company in Okaya city, Nagano Prefecture. Then all the silk yarn produced by the mill will be sold to a Kyoto-based textile company, Hosoo Co., Ltd. which is planning to use them to make original interior products. National Food Loss Reduction Conference held in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture, on the day of food loss reduction

NAGANO, Oct. 30 – Matsumoto city, Nagano Prefecture, held the 1st All Japan Food Loss Reduction Conference on October 30, 2017. At the conference, the city introduced one of its key efforts called “30-10 (sanmaru-ichimaru) Movement,” and run a panel discussion of restaurant and retail store owners and consumers to confirm the shared commitment to expanding the food loss reduction movement across the country.
