【News】 Asian farmers’ organizations celebrate successful completion of JA Zenchu’s fund-raising campaign for small farmers in Asia (March 16, 2016)
Successful completion of a long-range fund raising campaign named “Fundraising for Coexistence with Asia” was highly appreciated by representatives of farmers’ organizations in seven Asian countries, including the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia, at a meeting held in Tokyo on March 9-10. The nation-wide campaign has been promoted by JA ZENCHU, an apex body of agricultural cooperative (JA) organizations in Japan since 2005. JA Group, an organizational network of Japanese agricultural cooperatives (JAs), held a special event to attract Chinese consumers with tasty Japanese rice on March 5-6 at a department store in Shanghai, China. ZEN-NOH (National Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Associations), a business organization of agricultural cooperatives (JA) in Japan, decided to establish a model overseas base in Singapore and build up an effective system for marketing Japanese farm products from the base by 2018. In a next three-three plan beginning from April 2016, ZEN-NOH will promote exports of farm products shipped from Japan via its overseas base by improving processing facilities in Singapore as well as by expanding a network of distribution channels for Japanese products in the Asian region during the next three years.
