Unidentified brown bear “OSO18” attacking milk cows in eastern Hokkaido, threatening dairy farmers

HOKKAIDO, Aug. 31 – An area in eastern Hokkaido with a thriving dairy industry has recently been suffering from damage caused by an unidentified giant brown bear attacking milk cows and ruining crops of corn for feed. Local hunters are making every effort to hunt the bear, but they have not been able to capture the animal. There had not been any cases in the past of brown bears attacking livestock, but since 2019, attacks on milk cows leading to injuries and deaths have been reported every year. Wagyu-brand beef and cowhide producers present original gloves to celebrate Orix Buffaloes’ victory

HYOGO, Jan. 15 – “Please use these Awaji brand wagyu baseball gloves to win another Pacific League title this year again!” On January 14, Awaji brand wagyu beef and cowhide producers on Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture, presented original baseball gloves made of Awaji wagyu brand cattle hide to baseball players of Orix Buffaloes, a winner of the 2021 Pacific League title in Japan. Long life tofu attracting popularity with more makers releasing products made from Japan-grown soybeans

TOKYO, Dec. 14 – More manufacturers are recently releasing long life tofu products with best-before period of 100 days or more. Many of them use domestically-grown soybeans. They hope the products with long shelf life will be used for such purposes as emergency supplies, e-commerce and outdoor activities, as well as being exported overseas. Imuraya Co., a food and sweets manufacturer in Tsu, Mie Prefecture, released on Dec. 3 Umashi Tofu Long Shelf Life 180, which has a shelf life of 180 days if kept in the refrigerator. Farmers band fest on Twitter winning over 80,000 views

Tokyo, Nov. 9 – Farmers from all over Japan held an online music fest on Twitter, and gathered more than 80,000 views in the first nine days. The farmers posted 29 videos of band performances simultaneously at 10:00 a.m. on October 31, 2021, on the social networking service (SNS). All these movies were filmed in rice paddy fields, farms, and workshops and posted with a hashtag (#農家バンドフェス) for easier searches. Tokyo-based fruits and vegetable wholesaler adopts very Japanese cardboard boxes for export

TOKYO, Oct. 13 – Japan’s largest fruits and vegetables wholesale company has recently adopted all-new designs for export cardboard boxes. They are created to give a very distinctive image of Japan and differentiate genuine Japanese products from others. Also, they are designed to fit perfectly on pallets for improved loading efficiency. Tokyo Seika Corporation collaborates with Wismettac Foods, Inc., an exporter of “SUGOI” series products, and the boxes are made by Rengo Co., Ltd., a paper box manufacturer.
